How can you learn the basics of simple programming and become a robot operator?

We have developed an innovative training program, "Innovation reality 4.0". It is a program with a reduced robot workstation, myCobot. myCobot is a great opportunity to start your journey into the world of IT and automation in a particularly understandable format, suitable for teaching and developing students and for learning the principles of programming for older generations.

This unique training program and platform that we will develop is designed for educators to acquire knowledge of robotics used in industry (automotive, pharmaceutical) and programming languages. The program allows you to acquire skills in the shortest possible time using a workstation that currently weighs less than 1 kg.

When creating the training program, we build on our experience gained in developing and integrating IT solutions, such as ERP, CRM, SaaS, in various industries - automotive, pharmaceutical, metalworking, etc. Many workers in these industries face high-risk tasks daily that can be detrimental to their health. Robotization can reduce the number of accidents and increase the efficiency and quality of the work performed, eliminating mistakes due to the human factor.

Unique industrial design

It looks and works like an industrial robot but weighs only 850 g.Modular design means you don’t need to worry about damage and problems.

Color display and LED-matrix

The 320 x 240px color display allows you to control the operation of the robot or can be used to create any information.The second LED display shows the status of the robot and can be used for any signal.

LEGO connector on the robot base and flange

With the help of LEGO, it is possible to simulate, prototype, and model both mechanisms and other devices quickly, cheaply, and without special knowledge.

Wide selection of programming options and methods

The M5 Stack, which is the robot's "brain," allows you to use a variety of programming principles and languages: both visual algorithms and actual programming language (Python, C++).

Innovative training program "Innovation reality 4.0" and myCobot workstation

Today, we are entering a new era. We have the opportunity to learn to control robots remotely without us being forced to be present in the factory or wherever there is robotics. All you need is to equip the physical space where myCobot will be located. It will be possible to learn these technologies in person and remotely by connecting to the workstation. Any student without previous knowledge will be able to manually define a working instance for the robot without programming knowledge or running complex processes. Within the workstation, the robot remembers the instances created by each student, learns, and provides behavioral manners that each subsequent student can use in the future. In this way, the robot develops a knowledge base, based on which the robot can offer to optimize other equipment, train the mechanism for moving objects, prototyping, and modulate simulation.

Thanks to the AWS cloud solution - machine learning service, the robot continuously gets smarter every time and can offer different solutions in the future. Thus, the software automatically creates the coordinates of the work surface and, with the help of the programmed algorithm blocks, offers variants for the implementation of the robot launch. With all this, you can start working today with our methodology and innovative training program, creating a myCobot workstation.

Three basics of training

Logic

Programming is based on the basics of logic. Without logic:

  • no algorithm;

  • no programming language;

  • no work process.

Algorithm

Programming is based on algorithms. Proper use of algorithms makes it possible to achieve any goal as efficiently as possible with minimal energy consumption and the most efficient outcome, leading to cost reductions.

Programming

Robot programming uses one of the formal programming languages (such as Python or C++). The choice of programming language is limited to the selection of technologies and devices used.

We allow learning to think logically, develop and apply ready-made algorithms. Also, thanks to the AWS cloud solution - machine learning service, the robot will create new algorithms during learning. In this tutorial, we use visual blocks to program robots.

The robot and the programs it works with allow you to create a variety of learning approaches. From easier robot motion programming to advanced programming using programming languages (e.g., Python)

Why the programming language Python?

Primary languages such as Python and C++ are used in robot programming. Python is one of the most popular programming languages in the world today. This language is interesting for the market, and as an IT company we follow the trends in the world. We also use this language to develop  customized business system solutions, and one of the main directions of Midis – Odoo ERP integration. Odoo is an open-source platform based on Python. We apply knowledge and skills in this language when our client needs to meet the specific needs of his business, which we achieve thanks to Python's programming language skills in developing and integrating additional functionality into the Odoo system.

Software development using Python can be integrated with robotics and  IoT (Internet of Things). These skills can be applied instantly in real-time with physical devices, robots, and our workstation, which help students learn the basics of programming and use them in real life.

What is Industry 4.0?

The fourth industrial revolution means the complete digitalization of the industry. The main principle is to connect mechanisms and management systems to develop smart grids in a typical chain where self-service, production process management, and bulk processing can be organized, analyzed, and optimized. The whole mechanism can independently learn and collect information for management reports. By investing in the integration of this type of process today, it is possible to analyze and optimize production in depth. As a result, we can reduce costs.

This pilot project has been developed together with Robologic. Midis and Robologic are part of the Robologic group. The goal of this group is to optimize and automate production processes using Industry 4.0 integration.

Future plans

Currently, we plan to develop the platform and implement it as the first pilot project here in the hometown of Rēzekne, gradually moving to the district and reaching the whole of Latvia, every school and technical school.

In the new version, our workstation will contain more sophisticated robots that can be adapted to work, such as welding. We plan to open several physical training workstations in schools with the possibility to connect and learn remotely.

The main idea is to create a robotics academy. This platform will allow the commissioning of physical robots for schools that will equip the workstation for training. It will also be possible to connect remotely to laboratories, which will be equipped with physical workstations with robots, where pre-algorithms are set, which will allow you to feel how the robot works.
